Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is both a surprisingly good movie, and equally as bad as yous would wait.

The moving-picture show, directed by Ti West - who has since disowned it - takes the gimmicks, gore, and bad taste sense of humor of the original and ups the dues x fold. I don't get prissy very easily, but this film marks the second time this year I accept near vomited while watching an American movie.

Picking up the plot thread left at the end of the original motion-picture show, Cabin Fever 2: Bound Fever details what happens when the Down Dwelling house Water Co. delivers a case of infected h2o to a high school on the eve of prom. Earlier long, the virus is spreading in the schoolhouse. Everyone's getting it. Whether it's from bloody urine in the punch basin or blowjobs in the bath, rarely accept I seen a expressionless teenager film where the teens were more doomed.  More later on the jump:

This existence a sequel, (and a far belated, direct to video sequel at that), the rules have changed. Whereas the original had the virus take concur over a few days, this entry has melting flesh within hours. The original had skin falling off of a daughter'due south leg as she shaved, this 1 has a male child's penis oozing puss in his pants. The original had an isolated group of teens, this one has hundreds of deaths.

And this moving-picture show really, actually goes for broke. Nothing is sacred; no i's dignity is spared. There is a scene where a morbidly obese daughter loses her virginity in a pool only to detect that her ruptured hymen but will not stop bleeding. A boy's member falls off. Another girl has a miscarriage in the showers during the prom (all played for laughs). Keep in mind, I didn't just spoil all of the movies gags, every scene is like this.

The problem is, though the movie is securely unhinged, it's also incredibly hackishly made. The editing is just rancid, cut from ane image to the next with no discernable motivation. Continuity errors and poor heart line matches abound. I really never observe this stuff, but it was glaring and distracting in this picture show.

This is a film that has been cut and recut to oblivion. One dead teenager starts out as the cool-guy friend, giving the protagonist expressionless teen advice on how to choice upwards girls. Then, a few scenes later, he arbitrarily shifts into the role of the nerdy buddy. The aforementioned pool scene seems to exist based in some sort of larger prank subplot that remains unseen. In another scene, a daughter with an open up sore on her rima oris performs fellatio for "revenge" on some unknown third party. In that location must be a very different cutting floating out in that location considering the whole thing is just barely feature length, even with the horrendous, tangential epilogue scene set in the strip club and a ridiculous, poorly blithe, closing animated sequence.

What should be the pic'due south centerpiece sequence - a prom total of students who all begin to projectile vomit blood on one some other before be being mowed downwards by blackness-ops soldiers - occurs almost wholly off screen. We come across a few poorly framed shots of the commotion and then the backwash, only none of the meat shots. Given how lowbrow the whole pic is, this scene could have been something of fable, instead, information technology looks similar an undergrad at moving picture student's beginning attempt at a gorno.

There's no getting effectually it, Motel Fever 2: Spring Fever is not a good movie. If y'all try and scout it with a girlfriend, she won't jump in your lap, she'll probably merely dump you. Yous can't actually watch it in mixed company because it'southward really, really, actually offensive in its grotesqueries. And ultimately, information technology'south a very poorly fabricated movie too. And nevertheless, I find myself wanting to recommend it. Maybe I'm a sick fuck, merely I was thoroughly entertained. In fact, I recollect I had more than fun with this disc than I have with the vast bulk of theatrical horror for the past half-decade. And, with a needless sequel released 7 years afterward the original, afterwards sitting on the shelf for 2 ½ years, that's a miracle in and of itself.

THE DVD:

I watched this film on my laptop, then put information technology into my DVD player. I'g not a techie, but I think someone screwed up the transfer. Everything looks stretched and screwy. I know this is DTV and basically a dump past the studio, merely come on! get the friggin aspect ratio correct!

This DVD has a making of characteristic that is notable only in that information technology completely excludes any mention of Ti West, often to hilarious results.

There is also a gore-reel which showcases some really, actually nasty stuff, and how they did it. I actually really like this kind of thing. CGI furnishings reels bore me, but seeing a tooth pulled from a giant animatronic caput is sorta cool.

Determination:

Ti Westward might take disowned the movie, but in many ways information technology is shut to what he promised. Cabin Fever two: Spring Fever is certainly a John Water's style horror-comedy full of the nigh offensive images of bodily malfunctions possible. Also, it has a kick ass soundtrack. I laughed, I cringed, I almost threw upward. It's not a well-made film and it has clearly been stitched together like a Frankenstein monster, just I certainly wasn't bored.

THE Movie: four.2

ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: eight.9

THE DVD: 3.0
